La mamma era a Firenze durante l'estate del '44, quando venne occupata e minata dai tedeschi, che fecero saltare tutti i ponti sull'Arno, tranne il Ponte Vecchio, amato dal dittatore e dai gerarchi nazisti, che venne minato, mentre tutte le costruzioni intorno furono rase al suolo, il ponte Vecchio era circondato di macerie (facendo ricerca si trovano foto) in questo modo il generale Kesselring voleva impedire agli Alleati di raggiungere i tedeschi chi si ritiravano. Mentre sulle colline combattevano i partigiani, dai tetti sparavano i franchi tiratori gli Alleati avanzavano, contemporaneamente bombardavano la città. Corona (nome di mia mamma, aveva allora 21 anni) era rimasta intrappolata a Firenze...
