Autobiographical methodologies are an educational approach that uses autobiographical narrative, as an opportunity for self-care, to learn from one’s own story and from the stories of others, to share with other people experiences, reflections, visions of the world.
The importance of this educational approach is related to the importance of narratives in our life. We learne about the world and ourselves through stories, stories shared within our family, our living environment, in our culture of origin; through them we create our own vision of the world, our identity, by accepting the stories we hear or by rejecting them and creating some new ones.
Autobiographical methodologies include both autobiographical writing in the strict sense, and the collection of stories from other people (such as biographical work).
