Digital Storytelling for Social Inclusion – DST-4-SI
Erasmus Plus –Youth – KA1 – Youth Workers Mobility
By ITINERE SOCIETA’ COOPERATIVA SOCIALE
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The project aimed to offer youth workers from different countries and European organizations, effective tools to work with young people at risk of social exclusion.
In particular, the educational activities that youth workers have been learning had two specific purposes:
– allow young people to become aware of their abilities, attitudes, values, and in this way help to define their own personal “life project”, as a fundamental way to support young people under risk of social exclusion;
– tell about social exclusion, in order to increase the social awareness of this issue.
The tools that the course adopts to achieve these objectives are the autobiographical and digital storytelling methodologies. The self-narration is in fact one of the most effective ways to promote selfknowledge, and so strengthen self-confidence on personal abilities.
At the same time the narration is a powerful way to communicate about social issues. These methodologies also allow us to make others aware of the problems of social exclusion of young people in Europe, in order to understand the causes, and contribute to a possible change.
