Solidarity in the emergency
The current emergency caused by the Corona Virus has deeply shocked the European social structure.
Our thoughts go, first of all, to the many who have been taken away by the virus, and to the pain of their loved ones, who have not even been able to assist and accompany them in such a dramatic moment.
The emergency has also caused serious difficulties to many sectors of the economy, and the repercussion of all this on the social fabric and on families is still unknown.
In the face of this global drama we have seen, in the various European countries, the creation of many experiences of solidarity, of creative and constructive reaction carried out by associations and individuals; a pulsating network of small and large initiatives that are helping the most fragile, guaranteeing educational and support actions; actions that are helping all of us to go through this difficult phase, and to see in the crisis an opportunity to strengthen the social network.
That’s why this “invitation to narration and sharing”.
Solidarity stories at the time of the Corona Virus
We invite third sector organizationsindividuals and communities, to share experiences of solidarity and creative and constructive reaction to the crisis we are going through. In particular, the stories that we propose to tell and share may concern:
- Solidarity and change experiences
- Social and educational work in the emergency
- Stories of Communities responding to the emergency
Here are some questions that can help us in reflection and storytelling:
- Share an experience of solidarity or social work in this emergency phase; It can be an experience you lived in the first person, or an experience made by others, and that you feel is important to share and to remember.
- How is this experience important to you and others in general? What lessons and messages contains this experience?
- Once the emergency will be over, what – in your opinion – should we keep from the experience you have told?
You can create stories in different formats, whether biographical or autobiographical narratives:
- Text: autobiographical narration, telling what you experienced directly in first person, or a biographical narration, if you are collecting experiences of other persons. Please send in PDF format.
- Photo narration (text and pictures): a narration that’s composed of pictures accompanied by texts. It may be an autobiographical narration, telling what you experienced directly in the first person, or a biographical narration, if you are collecting experiences of other persons. Please send in PDF format.
- Video narration: you can tell the story through diverse types of video narration, such as documentary, video interview, digital storytelling or any other creative form. The video must first be uploaded on platforms such as Youtube or Vimeo.
- Comics: telling a lived experience of intercultural dialogue using graphics/images and text. The story should be sent in PDF format.
- Audionarration: Autobiographical audio narration, telling what you experienced directly in the first person, or a biographical narration, if you are collecting experiences of other persons, uploaded to file sharing platform such as YouTube and Vimeo (see uploading below).
